Service Description

Each group will have a maximum of 5 dogs per session. The course consists of 4 X 45 minute sessions that take place on a Wednesday evening. Please note, this course focusses on socialising puppies to experiences that we want them to be confident and happy with in real life. This course will not cover basic obedience, to see if this is the course you are looking for please read the course overview below. This course is suitable for dogs from full vaccination status up until 16 weeks old. Your dog must be fully vaccinated by the date of your week 2 session (vaccination cards must be provided for the safety of all dogs attending). Week 1 Human Only Induction: No cute puppies at this session I am afraid! We will use this distraction free time to discuss and give tips on common puppy problems, as well as tips for preventing any future problems in adolescence and beyond. You will also have an opportunity to ask questions and get to know the other owners in your group! The induction session will also prepare you for what to expect the following weeks with your puppies. Week 2: Basics and settling in - Getting basic focus from your puppy. - How to settle your puppy in new environments - How to introduce your puppy to novel things. - Teaching your puppy how to play appropriate and safely (without using their teeth!) Week 3: Calm around distractions - Positively introducing new and novel sounds. - Positively exploring new and novel items. - Teaching your puppy to be calm around hands and items (leads and towels etc.) - Distraction training. - Teaching your puppy to be calm around other dogs (when they aren't allowed to say hello). Week 4: Greet Week! - Greeting people appropriately. - Greeting other dogs politely on lead. - Playing with other dogs politely off lead.
